As I mentioned in my "Is Buckwheat Gluten-Free?" post, I have been sensitive to gluten for a few years now, and I have been leaning more toward foods that are free from gluten ever since.
I have a whole category dedicated to gluten-free recipes, and it has a growing collection of wheat-free recipes from India and around the world.
In this collection of gluten-free vegetarian recipes for dinner, I have included a few of my favorites, from hearty mains to no-effort sides, which I am sure you will love too. The next time someone says, "What, gluten-free and vegetarian?" just whip out some of these!
Is it possible to be gluten-free and vegetarian? I’ve heard some people ask this. To them I say yes, it is possible to be both gluten-free and vegetarian. Sure, it requires a bit of planning and prep ahead, but once you do that, it’s quite easy to throw dinners together quickly.

Vegetarian and Gluten-Free Dinner Ideas
Bored with the limited choices that come from being vegetarian and following a gluten-free diet? You're in the right place! Here, you'll find easy recipes that can satisfy any craving.
All the recipes are egg-free, and many are dairy-free and allium-free as well. I also have a separate post dedicated to no onion no garlic recipes if you’re interested.

Rice and Noodle Dishes
When your to-do list is endless, you want to cook as little as possible yet still have a satisfying meal, these gluten-free rice and noodle dishes are just what you need.
Make a big batch of my Bengali moong dal ahead of time to pour over rice, pair it with a spicy onion salad, and you’re good to go!

Hearty Soups
Served as a snack, appetizer, or even a meal on its own, each of these soups is healthy and satisfying. They’re all unique, with flavors and textures that stand out in their own way.
If you love having soup with bread, I highly recommend my buckwheat naan (it’s grain-free).

Easy Curries
Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned cook, you’ll love my streamlined (and mostly one-pot) curries. I’ve made the preparation process quick and fuss-free (fewer dishes to wash!) without compromising on flavor. You’ll see this in action in my eggplant curry, palak paneer, and aloo palak recipe.

Lentils and Beans Dishes
As a vegetarian, lentils and beans are my go-to source of protein. I cook with a variety of legumes and lentils, and I love their distinct flavors and textures. I almost always keep some sprouted mung beans on hand for a quick mung bean salad, and I usually have cooked red lentils ready too.
Use this guide to learn how to cook red lentils on the stovetop. If you’d like to understand the differences between some beans and legumes, check out my article on pinto beans vs. black beans.

Salads and Sides
These salads and sides work beautifully with any meal or shine on their own as a light meal or snack. They’re all quick to make and fuss-free, like this sautéed okra that comes together in just 15 minutes and requires no chopping, or my 5-minute corn and pea salad, which can be a delicious rainy-day snack on its own!
